He stumbled in the front door
Never been inside a church
He was looking for some answers
God knows how long he’d searched
He was trading in his old life
Grace was just a step ahead
When he made it to the altar
He turned to me and said
Friend, I’ve hit rock bottom
Not a nickel to my name
I throw away what God gave me
I’ve only me to blame
Every day is a battle
When your heart is incomplete
Help me get down on my knees
So I can get back on my feet
He was so tired of running
A man without a home
This world will not help you
When you’re empty and alone
He said, “I want my family back
I’m tired of living on the street
Help me get down on my knees
So I can get back on my feet.”
Friend, I’ve hit rock bottom
Not a nickel to my name
I throw away what God gave me
I’ve only me to blame
Every day is a battle
When your heart is incomplete
Help me get down on my knees
So I can get back on my feet
I love this song! Terry is such a good country christian singer. I've been listening to him the last 2 yrs. I don,t know why he hid so long.
ReplyDeleteI love his music. A true anointing!
ReplyDeleteThis song gave me comfort growing up with an abusive alcoholic father. My father went to prison for DUI manslaughter for drinking and driving and rolling his truck his gf not wearing a seat belt didn't make it. when I was 12yrs old. I heard this song in church and I wrote the lyrics in a letter and sent it to him. He started going to church while in prison. He spent 8 years in prison. He has been out and sober for 10 years now. And he is the father I always wanted. Thank you for this song Terry it gave me comfort.
